About Your Results
How long will it take to get my results?
It will take approximately between 10 and 14 days from the day the laboratory receive your urine sample till the day the Chlamydia Screening Office receive your results.
The Chlamydia Screening Office will then contact you by phone, text or letter (it's up to you!). You will need to give your date of birth when you're contacted to prove that you are the right person (this helps keep the test confidential)
What does my result mean?
| Negative | The bacteria that cause Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea HAVE NOT been found in the sample that you provided. |
| Positive | The bacteria that cause Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea HAVE been found in the sample that you provided. If you have tested positive click here for advice on what to do next. |
| Equivocal | The bacteria that cause Chlamydia and/or Gonorrhoea have been found in the sample that you provided but only in very small quantities which may not be due to infection. You will require a retest to confirm whether you are infected or not. |
No test is 100% accurate and very occasionally the test may give a false positive or false negative result. To increase the chance of an accurate result you should not urinate one hour before providing your sample.
